Some of my favorites, and why.

Many readers seem to be interested in knowing more about their authors personally.  I know when I go to an author’s page or blog, I tend to read the About Them section – I guess maybe it’s something about getting an insight into what goes on in their heads.  Or maybe I’m just a bit of a voyeur, watching other people’s lives from the outside…

Anyways, so I thought I’d run a little bit of a list of favorites for my readers, in case they need to slake their voyeuristic tendencies at my watering hole.

Favorite Book. Is and always has been The Neverending Story.  It’s actually a Hero’s Journey inside a Hero’s Journey – We have Bastian reading about the trials and tribulations of Atreyu, then, when he enters the story to save Fantastica, he has his own journey of discovery.  As with most movies, the movie version of The Neverending Story doesn’t match up to the book in any way shape or form.

Favorite Movie. The Princess Bride.  It is also a Hero’s Journey, but with so many brilliant one liners I find myself laughing from start to finish.  Never watch this movie with me.  I can quote it word for word, and it annoys the clappers out of people I’m trying to watch it with. I remember watching it for the first time and laughing out loud when Vizzini dies – and no-one else did.  Maybe I’m morbid or something, but it was FUNNY.

supernatural-poster-graveFavorite Series. Supernatural.  And not only for Sam and Dean (although I have to admit, they are an additional and droolworthy drawcard).  I love the way the writers have taken all the religions and mythologies, and rolled them all up into this otherworld.  I love that Sam and Dean have realised that they actually have to read stuff to get information.  And I loved Charlie, until they bumped her off.  She was bitchin’.

Favorite Food. Hands down, pasta.  If it’s pasta, I’m there.  Any type (except gnocchi), and any sauce.  Although I do tend to favour the ones with a massive lashing of cream and cheese.  Which goes a long way toward explaining why I find it so hard to lose weight.  Directly after pasta comes cheese, and then Arnotts Shapes.  Barbecue, Cheddar or Savory.

Favorite Drink. Tea. White with None.  I drink lots of it, to the exclusion of nearly everything else.  Winter or summer, doesn’t matter.  If you offer me a cuppa tea, I’ll say yes.  That’s not to say I won’t drink other stuff.  I have been known to down a tiny bit of vodka from time to time, usually mixed up with other stuff, and I wouldn’t say no to a glass of champers.

I don’t want to overwhelm you with information, so that will do for the moment.  Let me know what your favorites are – do you agree with me, or am I completely and totally off my tree?

    1. No, no, no!! The movie is but a shadow of the book. Read the book. Do it. You know you want to.
