Christmas in Heaven

Christmas Angel
I wrote this song a few Christmases ago, when I was thinking about people who were facing their first Christmas without a loved one.  I hope you like it.

Another year has passed without you near me

Another season seeks to hold its sway

And I remember how you were at Christmastime

How you were like a child on Christmas Day

You’d spring up out of bed on Christmas morning

I’d stumble out behind with my eyes closed

You’d break out into carols without warning

You really loved your Christmas, heaven knows

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

With golden lights and silver jubilee

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

Cos if there’s a heaven

That is where you’ll be

We’d make believe the presents came from Santa

And place them neatly underneath the tree

We’d wear our red hats all day long

We’d sing out every Christmas song

And you’d stand beneath the mistletoe with me

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

With golden lights and silver jubilee

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

Cos if there’s a heaven

That is where you’ll be

Time it heals all wounds

Memories bring smiles

It makes it all worthwhile

When you’ve shared a crooked mile

But time it can be cruel

It can break your heart

It can tear you apart

And now I hang the ornaments so gently

And now I sing the carols on my own

And now I have a very different Christmastime

For now I have my Christmastime alone

Another year has passed without you near me

Another season seeks to hold its sway

And I remember how you were at Christmastime

How you were like a child on Christmas Day

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

With golden lights and silver jubilee

I hope that they have Christmas up in heaven

Cos if there’s a heaven

That is where you’ll be
